Marketeering
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to hear Seth Godin speaking on stage, in our beloved city of Antwerp. If you do not know him, just google for his huge reputation.
Did he perform? Did he perform miracles? Yes! I was very, very impressed by what this man had to tell, by the advice he gave.
To blog every day was one interesting piece of advice. No I am not going to do that. But I'll blog more often. About everything and nothing, as you expect it.
And my advice to you today: wonder whether your seat has already been taken.
About
And all of a sudden you realize: people may want know more about you. So I decided to craft this about page. Sure, you could find more on the interwebs when googling for my real name, but for now I can only tell you that this website contains my personal opinions. About much and nothing.
Of course what I write here does not necessarily reflect the opinion of my employer, but that's true for about 95% of the interwebs, right?
A new theme
Yes, I have a new theme on this website. It was actually hard to find a nice theme, Drupal still lacks wow themes like Wordpress, in my humble opinion. But I like this one, so things are fine. And we can keep going.
If things are quiet at this blog, check the blocks with my del.icio.us and twitter messages, you will find more activity there.
Coding and CMSes
When knowing programming and a bit of computer science, at a certain moment you are confronted with the web. Perhaps a strange idea at first, but the first steps in computer science are of course offline. And as manually as possible, to make you think.
Photography on a different scale
When I photograph, I prefer people in front of my lens.
And when you look at it, actually people photography is rather easy. You can more or less control what should happen to the main topic of your image.
This site, inbeelding does not focus on people. Instead, architecture and animals are in the sweet spot. If you ever have held a macro lens, you know why the images you can find at inbeelding are impressive.
Disclaimer: yes it's another family project. But they are worth the attention, oh yes!
Family photography
Did you ever think about the idea a city lives? And if it lives, why not treat it as all other living things and photograph it intensively?
That's a very possible way to describe Charmantwerpen, a photoblog about Antwerp. The images always carry a (Dutch) title which makes you think, and show a curious situation in the city near the river Schelde.
I told you it's a family project, so I am involved with the backend logic. But do not let that scare you.
Migrating old content
Migrating an old website, running on Zen in my case, to a new system is hard. It involves a lot, going from functionality migration to details like copying over your favicon and style.
But one of the best and in my opinion underestimated migration tools are logs. Yes, those files which list 404s. Because that is what your users are looking for, that is what they want to see. That is were things are going wrong. That is were you should fix things first.
Where I am fixing things now.
More coming soon
Yes I know old content, especially imagery is missing. But I wanted to focus on the start first, and make it work. Filling the details will follow soon...
Drupal it is!
So I decided to restart my website in Drupal. There are numerous reasons, both technical and practical. I'll write about it later on, for know you should just know that this site is running Drupal. Which is cool.
Something new
Something new is coming up here soon. It will be different and futuristic. As all websites should be. If they ever all can be different, that is.
